About This Game

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project is Konami's own NES brawler rather than a port - built from scratch for the console and widely held to be the best of the three. Shredder lifts Manhattan into the sky and the turtles fight through the city to bring it back down.

Every turtle has a much larger move set than in the previous game: a throw, a sliding attack, a special move that costs health, and a unique 'super' attack. Stages move through beaches, a bridge, a subway and a sewer before the final Technodrome run, and the two-player mode lets both players be the same turtle. It also has one of the strongest soundtracks Konami put on the NES.

  • Full move set per turtle: throw, slide, special and super attacks
  • Two-player co-op allowing both players to pick the same turtle
  • Nine stages from the beach to the Technodrome
  • Konami's late-era NES presentation and soundtrack

Tips & Strategy

The slide is your escape

Sliding travels under most attacks and reposition you behind an enemy. Use it to break out whenever you are surrounded.

Special moves cost health, so use them on bosses

Every turtle's special drains your life bar. Spending it to end a boss fight quickly is almost always the right trade.

Stay level in co-op

Both turtles share the screen. Standing on the same horizontal line lets you cover a corridor together instead of splitting damage.

Grab the sewer shortcuts

Several stages have route choices. The underground path is shorter but packs more enemies - take it only with full health.
