About This Game
Metal Slug: Super Vehicle-001 is the first and most beloved entry in SNK's run-and-gun series. Marco Rossi and Tarma Roving of the Peregrine Falcon squad fight the Rebel Army â and eventually the alien Mars People â across six missions packed with hand-drawn animation, comedic detail and a punishing one-hit-death difficulty.
Its namesake is the Metal Slug tank itself: rescue POWs to earn items, and eventually you commandeer the slug vehicle for devastating cannon and machine-gun power. Weapon pickups â Heavy Machine Gun, Shotgun, Flame Shot, Rocket Launcher and the enemy-only Laser â change your playstyle stage by stage, and the hostage-rescue score system rewards playing dangerously.
- Hand-drawn pixel art and animation still considered benchmark quality
- Six missions with distinct set-pieces, from jungle bridges to alien motherships
- POW rescues that score points and hand out weapon upgrades
- Rideable Metal Slug tank with cannon, machine gun and self-destruct

Tips & Strategy
Stay low and shoot legs first
Most enemy soldiers crouch or kneel before firing. Crouching shots kill them before their shots leave the barrel â standing duels are where runs end.
Grenades are for vehicles, not soldiers
One grenade does not kill a tank, but two or three do, and the arc lets you hit armour from cover. Save grenades for vehicles and bunkers; your pistol handles infantry just fine.
The Slug tank is a score multiplier
Keep the tank alive as long as possible â its cannon clears screens instantly and its self-destruct jump-attack deals enormous damage. Do not treat it as disposable armour.
Co-op: revive timing is everything
A respawned partner reappears beside you, so the surviving player should drag enemies away from the corpse before it revives. Reviving into a grenade is the classic two-player disaster.
