ConcernedApe posted a short teaser for Stardew Valley update 1.7 in the game's official Discord on 23 September 2026, consisting of three unexplained lines: 'Two paths will be extended', 'Three will become four' and 'The mermaid's fruit will go free'.

The community's leading interpretation of the first line is that it refers to Clint and Sandy, both already confirmed as new marriage candidates. The other two remain unresolved — theories include an existing family group gaining a member and changes to the Mermaid's Pendant or the child system, but nothing has been confirmed by the developer.
