Skyrim Update 1.7.99 Raises Console Mod Storage

Aug 20, 2026 · VaultGames Editorial · The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition

Bethesda released Skyrim Anniversary Edition update 1.7.99 on 20 August 2026 across PC and consoles, with a follow-up hotfix on 27 August. The headline change is a long-requested increase to console mod storage, lifting the cap that had forced PlayStation and Xbox players to delete mods to make room for new ones. Bethesda has not specified the new limits.

The patch also delivers general Creations improvements and a set of crash fixes — including a crash when opening the on-screen keyboard and submitting text on the PlayStation main menu, and one triggered by opening the map repeatedly on Xbox. Bethesda said load orders are not expected to be affected, but advised players to log into unused saves before updating so cloud saves and mod configurations stay synced.

As with previous updates, players running heavily modded setups should verify that script extender and dependent plugins are compatible with the new version before restoring a save.
