Black Myth: Wukong Beginner Guide โ Sparks, Stances and Survival

Sparks are the only progression currency that matters, and the game is unusually generous with them: any Keeper's Shrine lets you refund and reallocate every point for free. Treat your first allocation as an experiment, not a commitment. Early on, put points into Foundation skills โ health, stamina and stamina recovery โ plus one staff stance you actually enjoy. More stamina means safer dodges and more room to reposition after a missed swing, which is worth more than a flashy damage node in Chapter 1.
Your staff is effectively three weapons in one. Smash flows naturally out of light combos, Pillar dodges ground pressure and crowd situations, and Thrust gives reach and safe pokes. Do not force one stance through every boss just because it worked last time; swap when the arena or the enemy's movement makes another heavy attack safer. Build Focus with light attacks and well-timed dodges, then spend it on a charged heavy attack only once the boss has committed to a long recovery animation.
Spells create openings, so cast them before the enemy is already swinging. Immobilize is the most reliable tool in the game โ use it after a boss whiffs a long combo, not while it is free to move. Cloud Step buys breathing room to heal or escape a corner, and transformations double as an extra health bar, so trigger them while the fight is still under control rather than at one hit from death. Upgrade your Gourd and drinks whenever you can, and if a boss feels impossible, go explore: Meditation Spots and minion fights hand out Sparks that make the fight far easier.
